]]> Des dizaines de manifestantes féministes ont dénoncé samedi à Dakar, la capitale sénégalaise, le système judiciaire et la tolérance excessive envers les violences faites aux femmes au Sénégal.

Aissatou Sène, porte-parole de la manifestation qui s’est tenue place de la Nation, a déclaré aux journalistes :
“On attend de l’Etat qu’il y ait des structures, des maisons d’accueil, qu’il y ait tout ce qu’il faut pour l’accompagnement des victimes. Ce qu’on veut de l’Etat aujourd’hui, c’est que les femmes, qui constituent plus de la moitié de la population, se sentent en sécurité. Et si on se sent pas en sécurité dans nos maisons, si on se sent pas en sécurité dans la rue et qu’on ne sent absolument pas en sécurité avec l’Etat et la justice, il y a un problème. Et, on ne peut pas continuer à vivre dans un pays qui ne nous considère pas.”

En janvier 2020, le Sénégal a adopté une loi qui criminalise le viol et la pédophilie après des campagnes actives de la société civile, en particulier des organisations défendant les droits des femmes.

La loi visant à resserrer l’étau sur les violences sexuelles contre les femmes et les enfants, prescrit une peine maximale d’emprisonnement à vie pour les auteurs et 10 ans d’emprisonnement comme peine minimale.

Auparavant, le viol n’était considéré que comme une infraction mineure dans ce pays d’Afrique de l’Ouest, les contrevenants étant peu ou pas punis.

Cependant, la campagne massive qui a suivi le viol et le meurtre de deux femmes en 2019 a poussé le gouvernement à rédiger la nouvelle loi adoptée.

Sahle-work Zewde s’est présentée dans un bureau de vote de la sous-ville de Kirkos, dans la capitale Addis-Abeba, notant que c’était la première fois qu’elle participait à une élection en tant qu’électeur parce qu’elle avait été à l’extérieur du pays « la plupart du temps » pendant les votes précédents, faisant référence à ses longues années en tant que diplomate.

La diplomate qui avait dirigé des missions d’observation de l’Union africaine dans divers pays, la président a déclaré que l’élection “n’est pas une fin en soi, c’est un processus”.

“Le vainqueur serait magnanime et les perdants accepteront gracieusement les résultats de l’élection”, a-t-elle déclaré, tout en ajoutant que perdre n’équivaudrait pas à un rejet, mais à un appel à la préparation des prochaines élections.

Plus de 37,4 millions d’électeurs sont attendus à voter aux élections à travers le pays.

Pendant ce temps, le président du Conseil électoral national d’Éthiopie (NEBE), Bertukan Mideksa, a affirme que “Jusqu’à présent, le vote se déroule dans le calme, sans aucun problème majeur”.

Selon Commission électorale, le vote avait commencé dans la plupart des bureaux de vote à 6 heures, heure locale (03h00 GMT), et sera clôturé à 18 heures (15h00 GMT).

« J’ai l’honneur de déclarer la fin d’Ebola » en Guinée, a déclaré le responsable de l’OMS Alfred Ki-Zerbo lors d’une cérémonie dans la région sud-est de Nzerekore où la maladie est réapparue fin janvier.

Le ministre Guinéen de la Santé, Rémy Lamah, a ajouté : « Au nom du chef de l’État (le président Alpha Condé), je souhaite déclarer la fin d’une résurgence d’Ebola en Guinée.

La dernière épidémie a vu 16 cas confirmés et sept infections probables, a indiqué l’OMS, ajoutant que 12 d’entre les personnes infectées étaient mortes.

Il s’agissait de la deuxième épidémie de ce type dans ce pays de 13 millions d’habitants depuis l’épidémie dévastatrice d’Ebola de 2014-2016 en Afrique de l’Ouest, qui a fait 11 300 morts en Guinée, au Libéria et en Sierra Leone.

Cependant, la Guinée a réagi rapidement à l’épidémie de cette année, en s’appuyant sur son expérience antérieure de lutte contre la maladie.

Entre autres mesures, le pays a lancé cette année une campagne de vaccination contre Ebola avec l’aide de l’OMS.

]]> Le président de la République démocratique du Congo a annoncé la création d’une agence de gestion et de prévention des catastrophes naturelles à la suite l’éruption volcanique du mois dernier qui a fait plus de 30 morts et déplacé environ 420 000 de personnes.

Felix Tshisekedi a fait cette annonce lors d’une conférence de presse tenue dimanche à Goma, capitale de la province orientale du Nord-Kivu, où il a expliqué que la décision est intervenue après la dernière éruption volcanique du mont Nyiragongo le 22 mai qui a également causé d’importants dégâts matériels.

Plus de 3 000 maisons ont été détruites lors de l’éruption qui a également touché des centres de santé et des écoles, selon le gouvernement.

Tshisekedi s’est rendu à Goma ce week-end pour évaluer les dégâts et apporter son soutien aux victimes de l’éruption volcanique.

« Nous sommes venus écouter la population sinistrée de Goma et ensuite essayer de trouver des solutions à leur problème. Nous avons déjà créé une agence pour la prévention et la gestion des catastrophes et également pour gérer le problème de l’éruption volcanique à Goma », a-t-il déclaré.

La semaine dernière, le gouvernement a annoncé le retour progressif des déplacés à Goma qu’il soutiendra.

]]> The United Nations (UN), African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) have called for the release of Malian figures arrested by the army, including the transitional president Bah N’Daw and his prime minister Moctar Ouane.

” I am deeply concerned by news of detention of civilian leaders of the Malian transition. I call for calm & their unconditional release. My Special Representative is working closely with ECOWAS, the AU & all other international actors supporting the ongoing political transition.” UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterress said on his Twitter account overnight Monday to Tuesday.

In a statement, the European Council condemned “firmly the kidnapping of the transitional president of Mali and the Prime Minister and called for their immediate release”.

The Council warned that “the European Union is ready to consider targeted measures against political and military leaders obstructing the transition in Mali”.

These reactions are in addition to those issued in the evening by the Monitoring Committee of the transition in Mali, which brings together representatives of ECOWAS, the African Union and Minusma with members of the international community, including the France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and the European Union.

Speaking in a statement issued on Monday evening, the Committee condemned an “attempted coup” against the transitional power in Mali and called for the immediate release of the President and his Prime Minister.

On Monday evening, soldiers arrested transitional president Bah N’Daw, Prime Minister Moctar Ouane and civilian and military figures, before forcing them to the Kati military barracks located about fifteen kilometers from the capital Bamako.

The arrest of these personalities came just after the announcement of a new government team, according to which Brigadier General Souleymane Dacouré replaces Colonel Sadio Camara at the head of the Ministry of Defense and Major General Mamadou Lamine Diallo replaces Colonel Modibo Koné at the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection.

According to corroborating sources, Camara and Koné are the brains of the coup that overthrew former President Ibrahim Boubaker Keita on August 18, 2020.

As a reminder, President Bah N’Daw and Moctar Ouane took office in mid-September 2020, following negotiations between the Economic Community of West African States and the military junta.

Their main mission was to lead a peaceful transition lasting 18 months, to end with the holding of general elections and the restoration of constitutional order.

Prime Minister Moctar Ouane presented his resignation on May 14 and was reappointed the same day to form a new government.

]]> Un prêtre rwandais, mis en examen et emprisonné en France pour son rôle dans le massacre des Tutsis lors du génocide de 1994, a été libéré cette semaine sous contrôle judiciaire, ont rapporté vendredi les médias français.

Marcel Hitayezu, 65 ans, a été arrêté à son domicile de Montlieu-la-Garde, Charente-Maritime et mis en examen le 14 avril, notamment pour «génocide» et «complicité de crimes contre l’humanité». Il nie les accusations.

Le prêtre a été libéré par la chambre d’instruction de la cour d’appel de Paris qui a annulé l’ordonnance de mise en détention provisoire, a rapporté l’AFP, citant une source judiciaire.

Hitayezu a été placé sous contrôle judiciaire avec interdiction de quitter le département de la Charente-Maritime.

“L’institution judiciaire a considéré qu’il n’y avait aucune raison de le maintenir en détention, compte tenu de ses garanties de représentation et du fait qu’il ne quittera pas la France”, a cité son avocat Vincent Asselineau, cité par l’agence de presse.

Hitayezu a été prêtre dans la paroisse de Mubuga dans le sud du Rwanda en 1994.

Au cours du génocide de 1994 contre l’ethnie tutsie, il est accusé d’avoir privé de nourriture et d’eau des Tutsis qui s’étaient réfugiés dans son église, selon le bureau du procureur national antiterroriste.

Il aurait fourni de la nourriture aux miliciens Interahamwe qui ont attaqué les réfugiés tutsis dans le bâtiment.

Hitayezu serait arrivé en France entre 1998 et 1999 dans le diocèse de La Rochelle, après avoir passé trois ans dans des camps de réfugiés dans l’est du Congo.

Il a obtenu le statut de réfugié en janvier 2011 et a été naturalisé.

En octobre 2016, la Cour de cassation française a rejeté la demande d’extradition du Rwanda pour Hitayezu.

Des responsables de la justice française ont ouvert une enquête judiciaire contre Hitayezu en juillet 2019.

Environ 1 million de personnes, pour la plupart de la communauté tutsie et des Hutus modérés, ont été tuées lors du génocide par des extrémistes hutus lors d’un massacre en moins de 100 jours.

Le gouvernement rwandais a blâmé les pays offrant un asile aux suspects, les exhortant à juger ou à remettre les accusés au Rwanda pour qu’ils soient jugés.

Plus de 1 000 suspects se sont réfugiés dans différents pays, dont la France, les États-Unis, les Pays-Bas et le Canada, selon l’Unité rwandaise de recherche des fugitifs du génocide.

The Ivorian Prime Minister Ahmed Bakayoko, evacuated to France since February 18 and urgently transferred to Germany last week, succumbed to a dazzling cancer on Wednesday March 10, 2021 at the age of 56.

The sad news has been announced on Wednesday evening by Fidel Sarassoro, director of cabinet of the Ivorian president Alassane Ouattara.

“I am deeply saddened to announce the death of Prime Minister Hamed Bakayoko this Wednesday in Germany from cancer,” he said.

“Our country is in mourning,” said Alassane Ouattara, in a message posted on social media.

“I pay tribute to the Prime Minister, Hamed Bakayoko, my son and close collaborator, too soon torn from our affection”, he continued, paying homage to this “great statesman, a model for our youth, a personality of great generosity and exemplary loyalty ”.

Côte d’Ivoire thus loses two Prime Ministers in less than a year. On July 8, Amadou Gon Coulibaly, Bakayoko’s predecessor, died suddenly in Abidjan after being the victim of unease amid a cabinet meeting in Abidjan.

“I believe that all Ghanaians should avail themselves for the vaccines and indeed in Africa, we should be less hesitant about taking vaccines because all of us took vaccines when we were growing up, and it is due to these vaccines that today our children do not get all kinds of diseases like polio and smallpox among others. ”, He confided.

“So vaccines are useful in preserving our health and so Ghanaians should disregard all these rumours,” he said while adding that he has agreed to take the vaccine publicly, to assure everyone that there is nothing to fear.

The Head of State Nana Akufo-Addo and his wife, Rebecca Akufo-Addo were the first to receive their vaccinations yesterday at the 37 military hospital in Accra.

As a reminder, the neighboring country of Togo was the first African nation to benefit from the COVAX initiative by receiving 600,000 doses of Astrazeneca vaccine last week.

On Wednesday, the Ghana police service closed the offices of an organization that supports the LGBTQI + community (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual trans, queer, intersex), in a neighborhood north of Accra.

On Twitter, LGBT + rights group Ghana announced that its center had been overrun by national security, adding that not only did they no longer have access to that space, but their lives were also at risk.

Furthermore, the community calls on human rights organizations and their allies to condemn “these attacks and hate crimes” against them.

For several weeks, religious groups and leaders in the Christian-dominated country have been campaigning for the authorities to close the center.

Meanwhile, Ghanaians on social media criticized the silence of President Akufo-Addo after the opening of this center in January by Rights Ghana with the support of foreigners (white).

The owner of the building that housed the center, Asenso Gyambi, told reporters he did not know his house was rented by the group.

These incidents come a few weeks after the first reaction of the American President, Joe Biden on the management of these practices by the other countries of the world.
