]]> After the first lockdown in April 2020 and the second general curfew observed in Togo during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the government is considering a new curfew in the capital Lomé.

The decision could be taken due to the constant increase in cases of Coronavirus contamination in recent weeks, despite the numerous measures taken by the health authorities in the country.

During a press conference on Wednesday, the National Coordination for the Management of the Response against Covid-19 in Togo spoke of a probable establishment of a curfew in Lomé and Kara.

According to doctor-colonel Djibril Mohaman of the national coordination for the management of the response against covid-19, this rise in the contamination curve is linked to the “non-compliance” with measures against the disease “in bars and places of worship”.

Meanwhile, parts of the Savanes region (in the north) were on lockdown since Sunday, January 17, 2021 and until further notice.

So far, the West African country has recorded a total of 4,459 confirmed cases with 3,865 recovered and 74 deaths linked to Covid-19.
